On November 7, 2025, Diana Pereira and Orlanda Tavares presented our project, EMIC STEAM, at the 2nd International Conference on Education Research (ICER) at ISCTE-IUL, Lisbon. The conference brought together educators and researchers from around the world to exchange ideas on AI and Education, focusing on its challenges and opportunities.
In an increasingly AI-driven world, fostering the human element through hands-on, tangible learning is more important than ever. So, our presentation, “Interdisciplinary Maker Education for Sustainable Development”, focused on how combining ecological making with CLIL-based STEAM education can empower students as agents of change.
Beyond academic theory, we highlighted the impact of Mobile Maker Boxes (MMBs) in fostering Futures Literacy and combating eco-anxiety through hands-on problem-solving, emphasizing the future of transformative and intercultural learning.
