EMIC STEAM in Markdorf: Turning Big Ideas into Action!

Our latest implementation journey at the school in Markdorf is officially wrapped up, and we couldn’t have been more excited about the energy in the room! Bringing STEAM education into the classroom isn’t just about presenting facts, it’s about training a completely new mindset. And how do you kick off a truly creative, open-ended problem-solving process? You start with the right methodology!

Our instructor, Mr. Wagner, led the students through the high-energy “Crazy 8 Method”: a core design-thinking exercise engineered to break through creative blocks.

The challenge? Sketching 8 distinct ideas in just 8 minutes.

In this rapid phase: quantity over quality! The goal is to shut off the inner critic, clear the mind, and let even the wildest, most crazy thoughts spill onto paper. It’s an essential technique for entering the world of STEAM, teaching students that failure doesn’t exist in early brainstorming, and that every breakthrough starts with a single, quick sketch.

Watching the students transition from hesitation to pure momentum was incredible. Stay tuned as we show you how these 8-minute sketches evolve into real-world projects over the coming days!

Which rapid-ideation techniques do you use in your classroom or team?
