The University of Minho organised the “VEM” event, an initiative aimed at attracting secondary school pupils to higher education through a diverse range of activities. The programme featured the workshop “Ecological and
Intercultural Cooperation through STEAM”, led by Cristina Sylla and and Daniel Rosa, as part of the European EMIC STEAM project.
The workshop aimed to raise participants’ awareness of the high social and ecological costs of fast fashion, using the EMIC STEAM approach.

Using only discarded and recycled materials, the participants created a board game that raises awareness about the topic. The final result combined design with environmental awareness, demonstrating how the reuse of materials can be a powerful vehicle for intercultural education, STEAM thinking and active citizenship.
